Dr. Darlington joined The Eye Institute in 2015 with expertise in glaucoma, corneal transplants, oculoplastic and cataract surgery. Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Darlington married his wife, Elizabeth, in 2008. They now have three sons together, Aiden, Alexander and Asher.
Dr. Darlington graduated with highest honors from the University of California Davis. He then attended UC Davis Medical School where he conducted research in corneal disease. Following an internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of California Davis where he piloted research on laser vision correction and wavefront technology.
Dr. Darlington’s personal philosophy regarding his patients: “I believe the best patient care stems from a foundation of respect for the patient’s personal needs and working together as a team to create an effective care plan with successful outcomes. My patients often comment that I go above and beyond by taking the time to clearly communicate ophthalmic disease and medical procedures, instilling a high level of comfort and trust.”
Dr. Darlington then performed the highly sought after Lindstrom Fellowship in advanced anterior segment surgery including glaucoma, corneal and refractive surgery at the prestigious Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis. During this subspecialty training, he was one of the first surgeons to perform an emerging posterior lamellar corneal surgery, the endothelial keratoplasty.
He has written several book chapters, as well having published multiple articles in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals in the fields of cornea and refractive surgery. Dr. Darlington has served both as speaker and faculty at refractive surgery courses teaching other surgeons how to perform laser vision correction and phakic intraocular lens implant surgery. He also regularly presents at national conventions. Dr. Darlington is currently assisting an ophthalmic medical company developing surgical instruments to aid in the implantation of a micro invasive glaucoma surgical device.
Dr. Darlington has performed thousands of cataract surgeries and has used his refractive experience to excel in the implantation of premium lens implants including toric, multifocal and Symfony intraocular lenses. Dr. Darlington had LASIK surgery himself in 2005 and now has better than 20/20 uncorrected vision.

"I would like to take a moment to thank you for the excellent care you and your staff provided me. It would be an honor to recommend you to any and all who seek to have eye surgery. The care and personal attention I received was second to none. As a patient you have reservations when some one is working on your eyes. You not only had the right answers you also had the right recommendation as to my lens selection. I could not read without glasses before and now I no longer need eye wear, what a difference it makes to have 20/20 vision again. Thank you again for the sight you have given me."
"2 years ago I was hunting deer on the island but I was unable to consistently hit my target. My brother and I were shooting the target bag together but I could only hit the target bag two times and I'd miss the entire bag the other two times. So I didn't take any shots in the woods; my vision could not be trusted. Earlier that year I'd seen five eye doctors in 2 months span. Three regular eye doctors, a retina specialist and a cornea specialist. My brand new prescription glasses weren't working. My vision fluctuated within moments. I had to make excuses everyday and struggle to use the phone, computer and drive. I saw Dr. Jason Darlington and he diagnosed me with cataracts. I was his first patient in the region to get a brand new European lens implant called the Panoptics Trifocal. The regional rep was in both my surgeries and my follow-ups. These lens implants were fantastic for near, mid and distance vision. I no longer require any kind of glasses. I thanked the doctor from the bottom of my heart and told him I was going to get him a bow since he'd given me the ability to see and shoot again. My brother picked out an awesome Obsession bow that he got from the Sportsman's Outpost up in Waverly Alabama. I was real happy to show my gratitude to Dr. Darlington with a fine bow that he can get years of enjoyment from. Thank you Dr. Jason Darlington!"

"I was very apprehensive about any procedure because a loss of central vision a few years ago left me with one functioning eye. If anything happened to that, I would not be able to drive or read again. Dr. Darlington was highly recommended by my wife and two of her sisters who were all very pleased with their procedures. Initial visits eased my anxiety as Dr. Darlington expertly explained the procedure for removing my cataracts as well as implanting corrective lenses. He answered all of my questions. Funny thing was, I didn't know what he looked like because I was always dilated and not wearing my Coke bottle glasses. Dr. Darlington first did my weaker right eye. Again, anxiety was lifted another level when I "saw" the results of clear vision the next morning. Two weeks later, I had the same procedure on my stronger left eye. The end results were beyond my expectations. Never again will I wear contact lenses or Coke bottle spectacles. I took great pleasure in tossing them all out. I will need glasses for reading, but no problem! Waking up and seeing everything in the bedroom clearly is a fantastic daily gift that keeps on giving. Finally, in my post-op appointment, Dr. Darlington's face was no longer a blurry blob. What I saw now was a very talented man who is clearly spectacular!"

"To The Eye Institute:
I want to thank Dr. Darlington and all of your well-trained, friendly people that made my experience a good one. I had the worst astigmatism and a small pupil that did not dilate as most do. Thank you again Dr. Darlington for making it work as I can see better than I ever have. I have recommended The Eye Institute and Dr. Darlington to my friends and family. Thanks once more to all the staff.
“I recently underwent cataract surgery by Dr. Jason Darlington at The Eye Institute. Before surgery I was experiencing a lot of difficulty with seeing at night, reading and discerning fine detail.
I'm so glad that Dr. Darlington recommended the Symfony presbyopia correcting, extended range of vision lens implant. The surgery was a blessing from God.
It's incredible how vivid the colors are, how crisp my vision is, and how sharp images are up close, at intermediate distance and at far distance.
Fine detail is just incredible such as subtle differences in colors when I am checking my pool water or looking at the smaller river rocks in my landscaping. It's just amazing.
The entire experience was totally awesome.”
“Dr. Darlington & Staff-
Thank you so much for my new improved sight. I am so thrilled not to have to wear glasses and contacts! Your staff was attentive and helpful and you are a miracle worker. Thank you, thank you.
Although it’s difficult to put into words the depth of my gratitude to you and your team, I’m compelled to make an attempt.
Your extraordinary skills and expertise is simply a gift that I and many others have been extremely fortunate(blessed!) to receive.
I could never have imagined the kindness, comfort, and peace that I would experience from everyone who was part of my cataract surgery and patient care.
You all are simply the very best, please know how appreciated you all are!
With much Gratitude,
